About the Concert Series
The “Howlin’ at the Moon” Concert Series showcases local and regional music from a variety of genres including but not limited to Americana, indie, bluegrass, surf, folk, and more. The concert series is hosted and presented by the Schenectady County Historical Society at the Mabee Farm Historic Site in Rotterdam Junction, NY, to provide an authentic musical experience for both audience and musicians. Music traditions are meant to be fluid and evolving — this concert series nurtures local and regional musical talent while providing opportunities for cross-pollination and to share musical ideas, all in a 1760 Dutch Barn that inspires and reminds us of our place within history.
The “Howlin’ at the Moon” Concert Series was originated by Dale and Joan Wade-Keszey in 2008 and is currently in its 17th season. Each month from May through September, head out to the Mabee Farm for a night of live music. The shows begin at 7:00PM. Admission is $10 at the door. Refreshments available. Depending on conditions, concerts will be held in the Dutch barn or under the pavilion behind the George E. Franchere Education Center, both at 1100 Main St., Rotterdam Junction, NY 12150.

Cold Chocolate is a genre-bending Americana band that fuses folk, funk and bluegrass to create a unique sound all their own. Led by Ethan Robbins (vocals/guitar/mandolin) and Ariel Bernstein (vocals/percussion/banjo), the Boston-based duo released their fifth full-length album in the fall of 2023. “We’re growing as a band, and I think that shows in our songwriting,” says Robbins. “I see this album as a leaping off point for many more new albums to come, and that’s an exciting prospect,” adds Bernstein.

Belle-Skinner
w/ Everest Rising
Thursday, September 11, 2025
7:00 PM – 9:00PM
We were so enthralled with Belle-Skinner’s performance last year that we simply HAD to ask her to come back this year. This concert is not to be missed! Belle-Skinner is a dark nostalgic singer-songwriter based in New York. With a hauntingly beautiful, lilting soprano and innate sense of melody she crafts tales of songbirds, sirens and desert nomads – nuanced and layered stories which bridge the gap between past and present. Though her influences cover a broad range of genres – from French chansons and Russian folk to contemporary alt-pop and rock – her voice often draws comparisons to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, Jeff Buckley, Mary Hopkin, and early St. Vincent.

With a wide dynamic range, Everest Rising’s material spans from heartfelt laments to all out jams, all executed with instrumental finesse and thoughtful story-telling.
